Me or my friends of NOBODY can join the server, even though its ported right and the ipv4 adress is right and NOTHING SEEMS TO BE WRONG! :( Please someone help me! Java works fine and the server starts but just nobody can connect and its making me REALLY MAD!

Marco: you can, but the highlight is not visible. In any case, typing shouldn’t be that hard since you (probably) have auto-complete if you press TAB.

I’m very young but I get what you say I didn’t get my very own until I was 11 sure I was allowed to use computers and stuff but it was very limited because dad had the only computer in the house then my siblings got computers that I got to use now and then but they were very slow and old but I still apreciated it. I still use my 3ee mini laptop :l. Sure I have a rig that I built with the help of my dad not to long ago but it’s anoying that I often need to upgrade it to use new stuff on it. Very enjoyable to read :)

Thanks for answering. had allready two times to get to my server physically to get networking up again (started setting the whole server up since saturday night: 4 days). moving my only tft around back and forth; configurin dhclient and netplugd to just have it react on cable plug in and out. Somtimes i just want to push the d**n power button for inducing halt and have my minecraft go gracefully down whithout currupting the saves. I’ll beat this configuration marathon. And i will let you know when i manage to write a “daemonized” shutdown script done which may send a stop to that specific screen session and waits for the termination of that screen… yeah lets deamonize the minecraft *MWahaha* …
at least it sounds somewhat evil ;)

Hard question, Nonsensius.
AFAIK screen doesn’t give you much “security” against system halts. It might be possible to send a signal to the app when screen detects a impending halt.. but that’s just me guessing.
Right now Minecraft has auto-save, and if you force a full save every now and then (“screen -x SCREENNAME save-all”.. i think) you won’t lose any data.
I’d suggest you to try it out and see what happens =). And share the result!
